INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
I will focus on understanding your symptoms and behaviors within interactions and relationships. The list of things I can assist with includes work related problems, depression, anxiety, life stage problems, drug abuse, alcoholism, anger, and individual psychological problems. The goal is to help you develop strategies and skills to alter the behaviors and cope with difficult situations. I will treat individuals from the perspective of relationships.
DEPRESSION
Depression is a persistent feeling of sadness which can impact multiple areas of your life. The good news is that therapy can assist with not only management of the overall problem but a decrease in the impact of depression on your life overall. Through utilizing multiple approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I will assist in identifying and challenging the negative thought processes but also providing you with tools to manage the internal distress you are experiencing.
STRESS & LIFE CHANGES
Stress can have multiple negative impacts in your overall life functioning including irritability, struggles at your place of employment, relationship problems, and physical reactions such as fatigue. Life changes such as marriage, transitioning jobs, family changes, and others can increase psychological distress. Sometimes coping with both stress and life changes can be easier than others. When it comes to the tough times I can assist with coping with these struggles by processing and giving you tools to manage each to decrease the negative impact on your overall life enjoyment.
FAMILY THERAPY
I know how impactful your family has on your current and past life. If you have not had the love you believed you deserved or current family struggles, it is something I would love to assist with. I can help in resolving past and current conflict through increasing skills to manage the distress such as communication and processing past impacts on your life to assist with your current stress your family has caused.
ADDICTION
Unfortunately addiction is something that impacts multiple areas of someones life. Whether you lived with a family member who struggled with addiction or you yourself know the pain and struggle with addiction it is something that I would have the pleasure of assisting with to rewrite its impact on your future. Through processing and exploring ways to decrease its impact on your future I will be able to assist in decreasing its impact on your future to help you get to where you want to get to. I would utilize multiple approaches to help create the story you want to write in the future.
TRAUMA
I wish I didn’t have to say this but trauma is something that does not just “go away” or “something you can just get over”. Trauma is something that causes an overwhelming stress that exceeds your ability to cope and leads to negative consequences. I will utilize multiple approaches to decrease the overall impact of trauma through reprocessing and giving you tools to manage the symptoms associated with trauma. Cognitive therapy assist you learn new ways in handling distressful events.
ANXIETY
The overwhelming feeling of doom and worry can create the negative cycle of anxiety. Learning tools such as mindfulness meditation and ways to cope with both the physical symptoms and psychological impact of anxiety. The goal is to decrease the overall impact of the negative cycle of anxiety through identifying the negative thought process and developing ways to reframe your thinking patterns. I utilize many approaches to assist in increasing your ability to self regulate including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach you tools such as emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills.
